Serving the Children of the World

What opportunities are there in my community for my whole family to serve?

Kiwanians around the globe have one common goal: To serve the children of the world. Kiwanis advocates this vision every day by providing opportunities to serve for every member of a community through Service Leadership Programs. Through these opportunities, youth and young adults around the world become competent, capable, and compassionate leaders.

CKI - for college students

Circle K International (CKI) is the premiere university service organization in the world sponsored by Kiwanis International. With clubs on more than 550 campuses globally, programming is based upon the tenets of service, leadership, and fellowship.

The Texas-Oklahoma District of CKI was established in 1954 and is sponsored by the Texas-Oklahoma District of Kiwanis.  The board of officers is student-led with the purpose of encouraging the 23 chapters in the district to fulfill the mission, vision and tenets of CKI.  Three to four district events are held throughout the year to educate members on providing better service and creating lifelong friendships.

Weekend of a Lifetime – for youth leaders

Key Clubbers work to help eliminate HIV/AIDS in Africa, stop premature birth, and battle for the rights of children in their communities.

Builders Club - for middle school and junior high students

Nearly 40,000 middle and junior high students in 1,300 clubs in 18 nations contribute service to school and community while developing leadership and people skills. Builders Club members implement practical service-learning principles as they focus on supporting organizations that focus on the needs of children.

Texas-Oklahoma District of Kiwanis International

The Texas-Oklahoma District of Kiwanis International was established in 1918 to offer guidance and support Kiwanis clubs in the district.  The district office is headquartered in the geographic center of the district in Arlington, TX.  Each year, the District Governor and board of officer establish a vision for the district to best fulfill the Objects of Kiwanis.

Texas-Oklahoma Kiwanis Foundation

The Texas-Oklahoma Kiwanis Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 exists to support the youth of the district. More than 15,000 service-leadership program members benefit from the financial support provided in training, development and scholarship programs for CKI, Key Club, Builders Club and K-Kids. Special Programs that provide financial assistance to future leaders include Sophomore of the Year, Weekend of a Lifetime, and college scholarships for Key Club and CKI members.

The name “Kiwanis” means “we trade” or “we share our talents.” It was coined from an American Indian expression, Nunc Kee-wanis. Today, Kiwanis International consists of about 8,000 clubs in 96 countries. Each year, Kiwanians sponsor nearly 150,000 service projects and raise more than $107 million. Members and clubs have contributed more than $80 million toward the global elimination of iodine deficiency disorders (IDD). With The ELIMINATE Project, Kiwanis International and UNICEF have joined forces to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus. This deadly disease steals the lives of 60,000 innocent babies and 30,000 mothers each year. The effects of the disease are excruciating — tiny newborns suffer repeated, painful convulsions and extreme sensitivity to light and touch.
